Make your DelVal space your home away from home. The resources on this page will help you plan your transition to campus. Here you will find schedules and timelines, lists of what to bring to campus and what to leave home, and other “to do” items that you may not have thought about. First, complete a Housing Application: To complete a housing application, you will need DelVal credentials. You will recieve these a few days after you submit your deposit. If you do not receive login credentials after you submit your deposit, please email support@delval.edu and a member of the Information Technology team will assist you. Once you are able to sign into the Housing Portal, complete a Housing Application. You will be notified via email once you have been assigned, typically in June for a fall move-in, early January for a spring move-in. If you haven’t already, check out our virtual residence hall tours! DelVal Student Tips for Living On Campus Community and Staff: Get to know the people on your floor, including your Resident Assistant. Many of the life-long friends you’ll make in your time at DelVal will likely be floor mates from your first semester on campus! The residence halls are your home at DelVal– keep them clean and respect all common areas (lounges, bathrooms, hallways and other spaces). Resident Community Coordinators are professional staff who live in the residence halls. Make a point to get to know them and use them as a resource! Roommates: Once you are assigned to housing, you can access your roommate’s information via the Housing Portal. Reach out and get to know your roommate – don’t rely on social media. Communication is the most important part of living with someone. Think about how you want your space and your living habits. You will want to talk about these things with your roommate. Packing: If you can, pack for one season at a time. You want to be prepared, but if you find yourself taking items “just in case,” rethink if they are truly going to be needed. Special Items to Consider: MicroFridges: Have your rental MicroFridge in your room before you arrive! Students may rent one MicroFridge per room. Visit https://www.myMicrofridge.com to place your order. Students are not permitted to bring their own microwaves unless ordered through our partners, and may bring one mini-fridge per room if not renting (3.1 cubic feet or less). Bed linens: University-provided beds are extra-long—visit Residence Hall Linens to purchase linens for your room. Woods or FireShield brand surge protectors: Residents are required to use Woods or FireShield brand surge protectors. Pick yours up at the University Bookstore. Personal property insurance: The University does not cover student belongings in the event of a fire, water damage, theft or other loss. If your homeowner’s insurance does not cover your belongings, contact your insurance carrier to purchase property or renter’s insurance. If you prefer, you can also contact National Student Services, Inc., and take advantage of their College Plus program. Renter’s insurance and property insurance can be affordable and are a worthwhile investment. Wireless Internet: To take advantage of the residence hall wireless internet, you’ll need an account with MyResNet. You can register and connect up to seven devices with a guaranteed 50Mbps connection (included), or sign up to get more speed (additional cost).
